Famous Logo Tutorial!

Google Play Logo!  This is the Google Play logo that I made with a tutorial. The logo was surprisingly easy. The most difficult part was creating the correct gradients to try and match it the best I could. Along with messing around with the opacity. I had a tom of fun making this logo and it only took me about 15 minutes to create!

Creative Anarchy Article

Creative Anarchy         Basically creative anarchy is learning when, and when not to break/bend the rules. The main point of this article was in order to bend or break the rules you have to know what they are. This reminds me of my english teacher who always justifys an authors reason to breaking grammar rules because they know how to use them perfectly and the broken rule they used adds affect to their writing. However the reason we cannot break the rules is because we do not know how to use them perfectly. we are simply just learning them. This just adds to the fact that we as graphic design students cannot break the rules whenever we want them because we don't even know whether are rules or not.       Without the rules how are we supposed to satisfy the very old fashioned clients that want a classic design with nothing exotic or inventive because it isn't needed to fit into the environment it will be put into. A great design is supposed to fit in with it's surround

Motif and Repeating Pattern

Motif and  Repeating Pattern      These are my two repeating patterns that i made for graphic design. A motif radiates from a center point while a repeating pattern can continue if you connect the two ends.        The scope of he project was to crete our own original patterns after we had done some tutorials and learned the skills. We also all voted on colors to use so that they had some form of uniformity. That taught me how to use the color books with a specific number to find the exact same shade as everyone else.        The day after I made my repeating pattern I went to the gas station and saw the same pattern in black on a door matt! I thought it was quite funny. It just showed me how patterns are just     used everywhere and that made me giggle.         I learned a lot during this project especially when i learned that making mistakes is sometimes good and thats how my motif was created. - Abbygail <3

Animation Professional Article Review

Animation Article Review  Article       In this article they explain how google is now entering a way to render 3D animation faster called Zync. It is a cloud solution, it is live in beta and anyone who registers for an account can receive $300 worth of google Platform credit which is used for Zync rendering. They are trying to promote the launch of Zync through the Render More site where artists can get and extra $500 Google platform credit by filling out a form.     Within the article the author uses videos to help illustrate their cause about the new google Zync. However in the actual text part of the article they lacked some explaining points of how Zync is more beneficial and useful then other ways to render 3D animation.     Although in this article the author has some very nice evidence within the videos to prove her points about Zync. I did wish they explained a little bit more about the form that was necessary to fill out to get the extra Google platform credit.

Repeat Pattern

My Repeat Heading! This is  my repeat pattern that I made to go on the ceiling of my graphic design room. My graphic design teacher , Mrs. Lofquist, calls our room the ISS room because there isn't very much color and it is very boring to just look at. So we have took on the task to make the room more  vibrant and exciting!  The patterns that we make are going onto the ceiling tiles. They will be printed onto some sturdy paper then placed under the tiles to add an interesting factor. to the room.   - Abbygail <3

Day in the Life of a Graphic Designer

Professional Article Critique   Blog post      In this article a graphic designer is talking about her daily life. She constantly is looking at her email (communication/collaboration) to talk to her clients about her designs. She also like to mix up her day to keep her creative juices flowing. I learned a lot about what a day as a graphic design would look like because i didn't know she seen so much time just talking to her clients about ideas and sharing files.  I also learned that she loves the creativity and flexibility of her job which is what I am looking forward to if I do decide to go into the field of graphic design. I also think that it is very interesting that she took photography classes and art history and not a lot of technology classes.   - Abbygail <3

Creative project

My creative Projects! These are my two creative projects that I made using the knowledge I learned making the previous designs with the pencils. The on  the left is a spiders web with a spider and on the right I took my creative pencil and made a cool design to get more used with the program. - Abbygail <3

Professional Work Review

Steam Boat Willie Animation  The scope of this project is to show the progress of 2D animation. Through the drawings to the full video. This was on of the first animation by disney. To this day the "Steam Boat Willie" animation is widely known. This animation shows a lot of the basic animation principles because it was basically the first impactful video animation! This shows several principles like follow through when Mickey spins the wheel his arms keep spinning. Along with squash and stretch when he whistles his cheeks squash in and stretch out and his legs squash up and down as he bounces. The story being told in this animation is a mouse steering this ship while whistling while he works. It was told by 2D animation and hundreds of drawings. I would like to apply the fluidity of the character to my work because Mickey looks so life like. We have learned to makes his joints move with out his whole arm moving to make it look even more realistic. The creator did an ama

What is graphic design

What is Graphic Design  Graphic design is giving somebody something to remember. Making somebody want to buy a book to put it face out on their shelf because it made them feel something. Graphic designers really need to understand what goes on in people brains. What makes us bye, choose, and anything in-between. A job of a design is to catch someones eye, intrigue them. Make logos, labels, packaging,  appealing so that  way our whole world isn't boring.   I as a graphic designer student am so interested on how they create book covers, boxes, and logos. Even buildings and statues. The amount of thinking that goes behind these designs without recognition just blows my mind. Before Ecomm I would have never been able to tell you that color theory was such a large part of designs and that designers had to think so hard about what would grab the consumers attention. Now that I am aware of all the thought processes that goes behind the designs I am even more involve with the idea

4th Quarter e9 project

Video             In the video section of our 4th quarter project I was one of the actors and I edited my own version. We used my house and my puppy Rusty. Our goal for the commercial was to pull on your heart strings by making you feel sympathetic to a young boy who doesn't have any friends except his dog, but now he can talk to his dog with the woof collar and be the best owner he can be! Everyone in my group was an actor and made their own version. We had a blast making our video plus we had quite a view bloopers.   Animation        In the animation section of our project  I was in charge of designing on the product in the program Sketchup.  I really enjoy animation and making things in Sketchup. I had some struggle dealing with all the circles, but i learned a lot of new techniques and short cuts because of it.  I would say I could have maybe added a texture on the collar to make it look more realistic, but otherwise I think I did a decent job adding the leash loop

Woof Collar Commercial

My groups product is a color that makes your best friend talk! the concept for our commercial was the heart strings method. We wanted to pull the attention from the now adults who could relate to Logan in this commercial. The sad music and playful pup were added because we were hoping to add the sad and happy factors in the clip. We tried to talk about our product and company as much as possible but that became more difficult then originally thought. I also think that we could have done a little bit better job of transitioning from certain scenes and also making sure the audio is okay and everyone can hear the audio.

The Interveiw

During this quarter of video I learned how to use Final Cut Pro and all the short cut keys that make is easier to use. Like command B is the blade tool and command I is import and command E is export. I also learned what the six shot system was and how to frame all of the six shots. The hardest ones to frame are the close up, extra closeup, and the over the shoulder shot.  I also learned how to work in a group and spread the work out evenly so that everyone has a fair amount of work so that everyone did a part so that the video got done by the due date. In the future I can use my group working skills in whatever strand I choose to go in because no matter what I do I will always have to work with people, and communicate my ideas and what I am envisioning in my head so that the people I am taking to can see what I am seeing.

The chase scene

In this project I worked in a group of four to create a chase scene that had a good story line with several "paragraphs". I learned how to manage my time with a group and how to spread out the work evenly so not only one person is doing everything. In my next project I will make sure to have the actors do the full action each time we film so we don't have as many scenes to retake as we did this project. Next time I will also map out what we want our film to look like so that way everyone is on the same page and none of us are confused. The collaboration was different in this project because they was more people, so there was a lot more ideas to bounce of of. Also we had to work harder to get a good solid idea that we all agree on. To improve collaboration in the next project I will make sure to listen to everybody's ideas and try and manage my time better with the filming.

AB Shot Sequence

In this project we had to show two separate actions with a location change in-between. In this project I learned how to select music to match my video so that they had the same sort of mood.  I also learned how to frame different shots to get different views that aren't in the 6 shot sequence. In my next project I will try to get more creative with my shots to show other angles. I also will try to make the video less choppy so it flows smoother to the viewer. To make this video we had to collaborate to make sure all of the shots were framed correctly and that we didn't have any jump cuts and that we had all the requirements for the project.

6 Shot System

6 Shot System           The first shot in the 6 shot system  is the extra close up. In this shot only the hands are shown. This lets the viewer know what the person is doing ,but nothing else. The next shot is the close up, which shows only the top of the face to the end of the chin. This shot identifies who the person is. Shot #3 is the over the shoulder shot, it shows part of the back of the shoulder and head and this shows what the person is doing. The next shot is the medium shot. In this shot it shows the person from the hips up, and they are the main focus of the frame. The wide shot is the 5th shot. In the 5th shot they are shown from head to toe and it also shows part of  the setting. In the last shot which is the extra wide shot. In the extra wide shot you can see all of the setting and the person only takes up a small portion of the frame. I learned what a jump cut is, and that is where a wide shot and an extr

Highlight Video

This is my highlight video that I made in the e-Communications program at Olathe Northwest. We used the program Final Cut Pro. In this program I used the choose tool, blade tool, and the select tool.  I also used the import and export tool to select sections of my video. Also I used tons of transitions in my video from all of the different amazing dance clips i used.  I chose the hobby dance because I have been a competitive dancer since I was four years old. I have loved to dance since then and I still do it today and I hope to dance for as long as I am able to.
