Creative Anarchy Article

Creative Anarchy

Basically creative anarchy is learning when, and when not to break/bend the rules. The main point of this article was in order to bend or break the rules you have to know what they are. This reminds me of my english teacher who always justifys an authors reason to breaking grammar rules because they know how to use them perfectly and the broken rule they used adds affect to their writing. However the reason we cannot break the rules is because we do not know how to use them perfectly. we are simply just learning them. This just adds to the fact that we as graphic design students cannot break the rules whenever we want them because we don't even know whether are rules or not.
Without the rules how are we supposed to satisfy the very old fashioned clients that want a classic design with nothing exotic or inventive because it isn't needed to fit into the environment it will be put into. A great design is supposed to fit in with it's surroundings. For example if you go to a rock concert you don't see a poster for another band with unicorn and rainbows and bright colors. That is just silly no one will look at it and read the information on this poster. They will look at it and laugh because of how absurd it is for it's environment.
We are taught as students the technical part of the design. No one can teach you how to design something. A design includes your voice, your, ideas, and what you have experienced.Thats why creative anarchy is so difficult because you have to take your very own individual experience to change ideas make them new and exciting. Creative anarchy is also contraversial because design has so much to do with opinion that there has to be some rules and when you try to bend and break the only rules in design it opens a whole new window for people to criticize. Thats why my favorite quote is "never declare it complete until you satisfy the creative anarchist in you".

Orthogonal Cube

In illustrator we made orthogonal cubes. We watched a tutorial on Lynda.com to figure out how to make all of the sides equal. We had to copy and paste the three main lines and copied them several times to finish off the cube. Then we added color to the cube to give it depth/perception. The darker colors make it look farther behind and the lighter shades make it come forward. Then i rounded the edges of the cube so that way it did not have weird tails that lost the flow of the eye making it look 3D.  This was a challenge for me because there was so many steps to do to make it look accurate. However the end result was with it, because it looked really awesome and it's cool to say that I made this from scratch.

The Interveiw

During this quarter of video I learned how to use Final Cut Pro and all the short cut keys that make is easier to use. Like command B is the blade tool and command I is import and command E is export. I also learned what the six shot system was and how to frame all of the six shots. The hardest ones to frame are the close up, extra closeup, and the over the shoulder shot.  I also learned how to work in a group and spread the work out evenly so that everyone has a fair amount of work so that everyone did a part so that the video got done by the due date. In the future I can use my group working skills in whatever strand I choose to go in because no matter what I do I will always have to work with people, and communicate my ideas and what I am envisioning in my head so that the people I am taking to can see what I am seeing.

Senior Project Final

I have finally finished my magazine. 1 front cover, 3 articles, 3 visuals, and 1 back cover. I did it. I am super proud of myself for all that I accomplished. I finally made something that represents not only my creativity, but also what I believe in. This project has also given me the confidence to know that I can start something from the sketches all the way to the final file, and have every single word and design come from me. I am so thankful that I trusted my gut and chose this as my final project. But most of all, I am glad that I learned that it is okay to use your experiences to influence your creative work.
