Professional Work Review

Steam Boat Willie Animation

The scope of this project is to show the progress of 2D animation. Through the drawings to the full video. This was on of the first animation by disney. To this day the "Steam Boat Willie" animation is widely known. This animation shows a lot of the basic animation principles because it was basically the first impactful video animation! This shows several principles like follow through when Mickey spins the wheel his arms keep spinning. Along with squash and stretch when he whistles his cheeks squash in and stretch out and his legs squash up and down as he bounces.
The story being told in this animation is a mouse steering this ship while whistling while he works. It was told by 2D animation and hundreds of drawings. I would like to apply the fluidity of the character to my work because Mickey looks so life like. We have learned to makes his joints move with out his whole arm moving to make it look even more realistic. The creator did an amazing job of making the character have a personality and a life like feeling, however the creator could've made Mickeys blinks less abrupt when he spins the wheel.
However I really enjoy watching this animation because it is so classic and fun. It has a very fun tune and makes me feel like the character actually exists.

Orthogonal Cube

In illustrator we made orthogonal cubes. We watched a tutorial on Lynda.com to figure out how to make all of the sides equal. We had to copy and paste the three main lines and copied them several times to finish off the cube. Then we added color to the cube to give it depth/perception. The darker colors make it look farther behind and the lighter shades make it come forward. Then i rounded the edges of the cube so that way it did not have weird tails that lost the flow of the eye making it look 3D.  This was a challenge for me because there was so many steps to do to make it look accurate. However the end result was with it, because it looked really awesome and it's cool to say that I made this from scratch.

Famous Logo Tutorial!

Google Play Logo!  This is the Google Play logo that I made with a tutorial. The logo was surprisingly easy. The most difficult part was creating the correct gradients to try and match it the best I could. Along with messing around with the opacity. I had a tom of fun making this logo and it only took me about 15 minutes to create!

Semester 1 Reflection

Name Typography:  As the year started,  we received a name typography project. The goal of the project was to take our name and turn the typography into something that would reveal some of our personal interests.  For example, I personally enjoy jewelry so I made Abigail appear like it was written with pearls. This project took around three weeks from the first of the school year. I struggled with reaching out of my comfort zone coming into junior year. This helped me learn that it is okay to have multiple ideas and that not all of them will work out the way that you planned. I was critiqued mainly on taking some of the concepts too literally instead of pushing them outside of the box. I changed several of them by going all out with some of the ideas that I had started. Making my ideas stand out really helped make my concepts stand out on the page. I really enjoyed tis project because it refreshed my memory on how to use Illus...
